People gather in Diamond Square during the annual Light Up Ligonier event in 2023.

The Thanksgiving leftovers may be in the fridge, but your out-of-town family may still be here and want to get out of the house. There’s a little something for everyone going on in Westmoreland County this weekend. Here are a few ideas:

Candle and wreath workshop

Wicks and Wax Studio in Greensburg will hold a Sunday BYOB class where each participant will learn some crafty new skills — and go home with some festive decor for the season.

Each participant will make a soy-blend candle, custom scented to their preference. While the candles set, everyone will get to make a decorated wreath.

Perfect for a mother-daughter day or an after-brunch activity with friends, this session will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wicks and Wax Studio, 124 S. Main St., Greensburg. Tickets are $105. Learn more and reserve your spot at facebook.com/wicksandwaxstudiogbg.

The Magical Polar Experience

Take a ride on the train to the North Pole at the Palace Theatre this weekend. Come wearing pajamas to see live performers, the “Polar Express” film on the big screen and more surprises.

In addition to $29 tickets, guests can purchase an additional $25 “Polar Pack” that includes snacks, an engineer’s hat, an ornament and more.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. To get tickets, visit westmorelandculturaltrust.org.

Light Up Ligonier

Head to the Diamond on East Main Street in Ligonier to kick off the Christmas season with this traditional event. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Ligonier will be aglow with holiday cheer.

There will be a countdown before the light displays come on, sleigh rides and a visit from Santa so that all of the kids can make their Christmas wishes.

Small Business Saturday

The day after Black Friday is Small Business Saturday. Take this opportunity to patronize the local businesses in your area and get the best holiday gifts for everyone on your list.

In downtown Greensburg, a fun game of holiday shopping bingo is available. Patrons can go to a store, look for the elf hidden somewhere in the displays, and then ask an employee for a bingo card. Cards will have slots for the 25 participating businesses — so if you get a standard “bingo” of five in a row by visiting those stores, you can drop off your card anywhere that participates and be entered into a gift card raffle.

To see a map of businesses and a sample bingo card, visit thinkgreensburg.com.

Elton Rohn

“Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” — but how about a concert instead? Head over to the Lamp Theatre in Irwin to see Elton Rohn, a true-to-life Elton John tribute that everyone will enjoy.

Elton John has been adored by fans young and old for more than 50 years, and this 100% live tribute will capture the magic of the musician’s live performances.

Shows will be held on both Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $40. To get yours, visit lamptheatre.org.
