The Trafford Historical Society will delve into the groundbreaking experiments conducted at the former Westinghouse High Voltage Laboratory during a program at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Manchester Room 414 Brinton Ave. Rear, Trafford.

Andrew Capets, president of the historical society, will present the in-depth program about the experiments conducted inside the 50-foot-high laboratory building. It was constructed by Westinghouse in 1921 and continued to operate until the late 1960s, when Westinghouse replaced it with a modern facility in Trafford, Capets said.

The testing conducted in the laboratory has been under -appreciated and unknown, Capets said. Some of the experiments conducted at the site had national significance, said Capets, who produced a YouTube video about the laboratory.

Capets wrote a story in the Summer 2024 issue of the Westmoreland History magazine. Additional copies of the magazine will be available to those who reserve a copy by calling the historical society at 412-601-1691.
