Trinity Lutheran Church of Irwin will conduct its annual pet blessing at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Members of the community are invited to bring their pets — or pictures of animals that are no longer living or are anxious in crowds — to be blessed by the church’s pastor, the Rev. Sarah Lee-Faulkner.

The pet blessing is held on the Sunday closest to the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, which is Oct. 4. Born into the family of a wealthy merchant, Francis gave up his inheritance to serve the poor. Because of his gratitude for all of God’s creation, pets are blessed at this time of the year.

The church is located at Fifth and Main streets. For more information, call the church at 724-863-7350.
