The Jeannette Public Library was closed Tuesday after a bomb threat was called into city hall, according to library board members.

The threat was called in on Monday and indicated a bomb would be present at the library Tuesday, said board president Joann Billheimer and board member Chad Krawtz.

Police responded to the library around 4 p.m. Monday to search the building, forcing the library to close for the rest of the day. Nothing was found, Billheimer said.

While authorities were at the scene Monday, neighboring businesses had to shut down for a time until the situation was deemed safe, she said.

“It affected the buildings around us, too,” she said.

The library is expected to reopen Wednesday, according to a post on the facility’s social media page.
