The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was found to be carrying knives at Hempfield High School on Wednesday.

The knives were discovered by a school nurse when she was helping the student retrieve medication from his book bag, according to a statement from the Hempfield Area School District.

The district said it has no evidence at this time that there was any intent to harm anyone. The State Police said the knives were taken from the student, and criminal charges are pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
