Latrobe man accused of having child porn
A 68-year-old Latrobe man allegedly admitted to viewing child pornography on his computer that contained multiple files, including one with a girl who was sexually assaulted, according to a criminal complaint filed this week.
The suspect, Dennis J. Keefe, allegedly admitted while police were searching his Miller Street residence last April that he viewed the nude images of the child who was sexually assaulted, Trooper Marcus Lantzy stated in the criminal complaint filed Thursday.
Lantzy said that authorities were tipped off to the child pornography in November 2022 by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which received information through Microsoft Bing Image that a computer had 11 files of child sex abuse material. It contained an image of a nude girl between the ages of 8 and 12.
Using the IP address on the account, police determined it was assigned to Verizon. After issuing a subpoena to Verizon, the company revealed that Keefe was the subscriber, along with his account number and phone number, according to the affidavit.
Keefe was charged with 10 counts of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication device.
Unity District Judge Tamara Mahady arraigned Keefe on Thursday and released him on $100,000 unsecured bond, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 12.
