Live! Casino Pittsburgh draws a variety of cars, trucks and motorcycles to its first car cruise in August 2022 in Hempfield.

Live Casino Pittsburgh will host its second car cruise Sunday in support of young student-athletes.

The Hempfield casino held its first car cruise last year. It showed about 600 cars, drew 3,200 attendees and generated $6,000 for Educated Athletes First — a nonprofit started by former Jeannette football player Demetrious Cox to provide young athletes with opportunities to excel in their education and athletic pursuits.

The car cruise will take place from noon to 5 p.m. in the casino parking lot at Westmoreland Mall. The casino expects 700 cars to be shown, spokesperson Tom Meinert said.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers Mel Blount, Louis Lipps and Mike Merriweather will be present at the event, and music will be performed by Moving in Stereo — a tribute band to The Cars, a new wave band formed in Boston in 1976.

The event also will feature food trucks, a beer garden, a Ford Mustang display, a 50-50 drawing, raffles and hourly drawings for autographed Steelers merchandise. One attendee will be randomly selected to receive two tickets to a 2023-24 season Steelers game.

“Steelers’ Choice” and “People’s Choice” prizes — which include $1,000 and $500 in free slot play, respectively — are up for grabs.

To show a car, truck or motorcycle, register online at pittsburgh.livecasinohotel.com/carcruise and select “Register Now.” Registrations will be accepted until 9 a.m. Sunday. It is $10 to show a car, but general admission to the event is free.

All registrants will receive a dash plaque, a T-shirt and $10 to be used at the casino.
