Fire crews responded early Tuesday evening when a malfunctioning machine caused a fire at Arbco Industries in Murrysville.

The machine, which is used to make hard plastic wheels, failed and caught an oil pit on fire, according to White Valley Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Bohinc.

First responders put the fireout quickly, and spent about an hour afterward dealing with smoke and hot spots inside the building, located at 2040 Borland Farm Road.

“There was more smoke than there was fire,” Bohinc said. “Every time you put air into it or you disturb a pile, then you get some flare-ups.”

No one was injured, Bohinc confirmed.

Crews from Export, Murrysville, Delmont, Sardis, Claridge, Washington Township, and Jeannette, along with Murrysville Medic One and Murrysville Police, also responded.
