Friends of Flight 93 will partner with the National Park Service to host the dark sky program Friends Under the Stars on Aug. 11 at the Flight 93 National Memorial. Astronomy clubs from Cumberland and Hollidaysburg will be there for a viewing of the Perseid meteor shower.

The event will start at 8 p.m. and guests will be able to view the night sky through various telescopes. The meteor shower is expected to return with peak activity in August. Participants also may be able to view Saturn and the Perseids.

According to the Friends of Flight 93 website, the event is open to guests of all ages and attendees “are welcome to bring personal telescopes, spotting scopes or binoculars.” Registration, parking and the program will be held at the visitor center outside of the memorial.

To register for the event, see www.flight93friends.org/events.
