SWAT team called to incident in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny
A SWAT team was called to an incident in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny neighborhood early Friday morning.
Police said the situation came to an end just before 6 a.m. after the suspect surrendered.
The suspect was facing a felony warrant, according to TribLIVE news partner WTAE. The incident began about 4 a.m. on Pressley Street. No injuries were reported.
Crash takes out pole, shuts down Greensburg street
A portion of East Pittsburgh Street in Greensburg was closed for several hours early Friday as crews replaced a utility pole after an impaired driver crashed into it.
Fire Chief Tom Bell said the collision was reported around 2:30 a.m.
He said the driver was not hurt after crashing into the pole near a BP gas station, Stone Bridge Brewing Company and Petagogy. The driver, a man from West Virginia, was arrested for driving under the influence, according to court papers.
He told authorities he had been drinking and fell asleep when he crashed, police said.
The road was closed between Urania and Arch avenues while the pole was replaced, Bell said.
