A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car Thursday afternoon in Derry Township.

Jarad R. Boyle, 49, of Derry Borough was pronounced dead at the scene on Route 982 at Lincoln Avenue, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson.

The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. just outside of Latrobe.

Boyle was riding south on Route 982 on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he collided with a northbound Ford Mustang that was turning left onto Lincoln Avenue, according to Carson and state police. The driver of the Ford, a 71-year-old Monroeville woman, was not hurt. The car hit a Lexus SUV that was sitting at a stop sign, police said. The SUV driver was not hurt.

A section of Route 982 was closed as state police investigated the crash.

Boyle was not wearing a helmet, Carson said.

A ruling on the cause and manner of Boyle’s death are pending results of an autopsy and toxicology tests, the coroner said.
