No one was injured Monday night when a car driving on School Road South in Murrysville struck a cow, county emergency dispatchers said.

That includes the cow.

“I believe the cow walked away,” said Murrysville Police Chief Tom Seefeld.

However, it is not the first time a motorist has come across cows loose on School Road South in the past few days.

“My husband was driving home from a friend’s house on Friday night, and when they pulled out of the plan, these cows were right there in the middle of the road,” said Heather Fulton of Murrysville. “When he showed me the picture, I didn’t believe it, I thought it was Photoshopped.”

Fulton posted a photo of the small herd on Facebook, but was not able to figure out where the cows had come from.

“There were about nine of them, my husband said, and then they sort of split up into different directions,” she said.

Westmoreland emergency dispatchers said Monday’s crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on the 5200 block of School Road South, near its intersection with Haymaker Farm Road.

Seefeld said police were still working to determine the cows’ owner.
