The Norwin School District may end up paying about $20,000 to hire an executive search firm to help find a new superintendent to replace Jeff Taylor, who will leave the post at the end of the school year.

School directors this week authorized its personnel committee to hire a search firm, but has yet to identify one, said board President Matt Thomas. The group will work with the search firm to write an advertisement and job description for the post.

Thomas said he hopes to have the new person in the position in July in preparation for the new school year.

Taylor, who has been the district’s superintendent since the 2019-2020 school year, announced his resignation last month. He said he would reveal his new job at a future date.

In another matter related to the district administrative staff, Assistant Superintendent Natalie McCracken was unanimously approved for a new five-year contract, beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. The details of the pact, including the salary, have yet to be determined, Thomas said.

McCracken’s salary for the current school year is about $169,700.

The board had 90 days before the end of the school year to notify McCracken whether it was going to renew her contract, Thomas said.

The board also was notified that Timothy McCabe, assistant high school principal, retired as of Feb. 1.

The board is expected to approve the extension of Nicholas Fallone’s assignment as the acting high school principal at its Feb. 19 meeting.

Fallone previously was tapped to serve as substitute assistant high school principal at a rate of $75 per day.
