JoAnne Barclay hit the jackpot a Greensburg Art Center’s annual Art of Gifting holiday show and sale.

Her purchases included a “gorgeous” set of coasters made of cotton-wrapped cord, a mug with a multicolored glaze and a set of miniature wood-framed paintings depicting the four seasons.

The Herminie resident was shopping both for herself and for those on her gift list during the Nov. 6 opening of the show, which runs through Dec. 22.

About 25 artists contributed fine art pieces including paintings and sculpture, to complement an array of merchandise from the center’s year-round artist market.

Season-specific items include ornaments, other decorative items, artwork, serving dishes, kitchen towels and more. Other items suitable for gift-giving include jewelry, scarves and other accessories.

Visitors to the opening reception were treated to a cookie table and punch in the center’s classroom, where the walls were adorned with paintings submitted for a wall art contest titled, “‘Tis the Season to Be Jolly.”

Winners of the contest, judged by member artist Sue Pollins, were “Sleigh Ride” by Pat Majcher, first place; “Christmas Night” by Eileen Yeager, second; and “Jolly Bouquet” by Tami Krusper, third.

This year’s Art of Gifting was chaired by Debbie King, with committee members including Ginger Hepler, Jeanne Siecinski and Loretta Wolfe.
