Six area young people are a step closer to careers in the medical profession following Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary’s annual scholarship luncheon, held June 7 at Greensburg Country Club in Hempfield.
The auxiliary presented $2,500 scholarships to the group, including two new awards in honor of organization members.
Recent high school graduates recognized for their academic achievements and volunteer service include:

• Emma Fisher, a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School, who will study radiology technology at Westmoreland County Community College. Her mother, Cindy Fisher, joined her for lunch.
• Madison Rumbaugh, a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School, is enrolled in Chatham University’s five-year, integrated physician assistant degree program. She was accompanied to the event by her mother, Angela Neese.
Awardees Hanna Pavsek, a Saint Vincent College graduate, and Addisen Holt, an Ursuline College graduate, both will pursue medical degrees through the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine program at Seton Hill University.
Pavsek received the inaugural Jan Rupp Scholarship, named for the former auxiliary president who died in 2022.
The scholarship program was established in the 1970s and is funded by the auxiliary’s annual Christmas auction and spring bingo.
