Penn Trafford School District has reported seven new coronavirus cases among staff and students this week, bringing the total number of cases in the district this year to 41.
Here’s a breakdown of the new cases:
• Two students at Penn Trafford High School;
• Two student and one staff member at Penn Middle School;
• A staff member at Penn Middle School;
• A staff member at McCullough Elementary School.
None of these cases have been attributed to the school, meaning it is not believed that they were contracted in a district facility, according to district officials.
The district has undergone multiple school closures this year due to coronavirus cases.
However, since mid-October, the district’s schools have remained open. Superintendent Matthew Harris said in a letter to parents that future closure decisions will depend on whether there is evidence that new cases were contracted inside school buildings.
Students in the district’s elementary and middle schools are attending classes in person.
The high school has adopted a hybrid model, in which students split their time between attending school and learning from home.
Students have the option to choose remote instruction rather than attending classes.
The district posts regular updates on new coronavirus cases at penntrafford.org/covid19.
