A 30-year-old Duquesne man is accused of having 970 stamp bags of suspected heroin and fentanyl that he allegedly intended to sell in North Huntingdon, township police said.

However, the buyer was an undercover police officer, authorities said.

The suspect, Larnell D. “Rock” Jones III, of Seward Street, was arrested when he tried to sell nine “bricks” of heroin/fentanyl for $3,300 at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Westmoreland County Transit Authority park-and-ride lot along Route 30, according to North Huntingdon police. The lot is adjacent to the Sheetz store at the intersection of Route 30 and Carpenter Lane.

Police said Jones also was carrying other packets of cocaine and crack cocaine and a loaded handgun, police said.

The deal, which had been set up by the undercover officer and an informant, was to take place inside the officer’s vehicle, police said. Police said Jones rode from the Sheetz parking lot to the park-and-ride lot in a Nissan sport utility vehicle occupied by Harry E. Randall, 28, of Wilkinsburg and a woman who was not charged.

The undercover officer, along with North Huntingdon police and agents of the Attorney General’s Office arrested Jones when the suspect allegedly said he would to go to his Ford Mustang and retrieve a bag of crack cocaine, police said in the affidavit filed against him. Multiple police vehicles surrounded the Nissan and the police undercover vehicle.

Randall allegedly had $545 in cash, according to the affidavit.

During a search of the Nissan, police said they found 20 stamp bags of heroin/fentanyl where Jones had been sitting. A loaded Smith & Wesson gun was found, as well as $30 and a digital scale, police said.

A Sig Sauer handgun and crack cocaine was discovered during a search of Jones’ Ford Mustang, police said in the affidavit.

Both Jones and Randall had prior drug convictions that prohibit them from possessing guns, police said.

Jones was arraigned before North Huntingdon District Judge Henry Moore on three counts of possession with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a firearm. He was placed in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bond, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 10.

Randall was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to possession drugs with the intent to deliver. He also was arraigned before Moore and placed in the county jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, pending a hearing on May 10.
