Police trying to ID man who stole truck in Greensburg for attempted ATM theft in Murrysville

Greensburg and Murrysville police are seeking the public’s help to identify this man who they said was seen with a stolen Smith Propane & Oil truck.

Police in Murrysville and Greensburg are hoping the public can help them identify a man who was seen with a stolen Smith Propane & Oil truck.

Murrysville Detective Sgt. Daniel Cox said the driver used the truck to ram a free-standing PNC Bank ATM on William Penn Highway in an unsuccessful effort to steal it overnight between Sunday, July 31 and Monday, Aug. 1. After the attempt, he drove off.

Investigators on Wednesday recovered the truck, which has damage to the front end and originally was stolen from Greensburg. Greensburg Police Chief Shawn Denning said it was found in a Hempfield parking lot and has been processed for evidence.

It was stolen from Ridgeway Street in Greensburg, he said.

Police released surveillance images Wednesday of the truck at the ATM along with a man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt or jacket, gray shorts and red shoes.
