A Uniontown area woman was hurt after her vehicle went off the road and into the woods in Rostraver early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Rostraver police said the 27-year-old woman was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. The extent of her injuries wasn’t immediately known.

The crash was reported about 6:15 a.m. along Route 51 in the area of Mt. Pleasant Road.

When emergency responders got to the scene, they found the vehicle overturned in a wooded area off the road and the woman trapped inside.

The woman, who police didn’t identify, was driving alone.

Firefighters with Rostraver Central Fire Department, with the assistance of the Smithton Volunteer Fire Department, used the “jaws of life” to free the woman from the wreckage. Paramedics with Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services took her to Rostraver Airport to be flown to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.
