A Unity home was destroyed early Tuesday by flames, according to Dry Ridge Fire Chief Rich Levay.
The blaze was reported around 3:45 a.m. along Route 130. Levay said the occupants were able to get out safely after a smoke detector alerted them to the fire.
“When I pulled in, there were flames shooting out the front, the side and blowing out the back,” he said.
A garage attached to the home that had a bedroom above it appeared to have the most damage, as the wood frame was charred and roof warped. At least one vehicle parked inside was destroyed. The flames started to move into the living area, but firefighters were able to stop them, Levay said.
“Smoke damage throughout, it’s not livable,” he said.
One firefighter suffered a burn to the hand. A state police fire marshal was investigating.
