Weeks before Live! Casino Pittsburgh is scheduled to open at Westmoreland Mall, crews are working on finishing touches that will wrap up a years worth of construction.
Signs featuring the trademark red Live! were installed to the side of the former Bon Ton department store in Hempfield on Wednesday, marking another milestone for the project. The signs were hoisted by two cranes and installed by workers.
“The signage placement is another step closer to a new, exciting era for Western Pennsylvania,” a news release on the event reads.
The 100,000-square-foot casino, owned by The Cordish Companies in Maryland, is slated to open Nov. 24. The facility will feature 750 slot machines, 30 table games and a FanDuel Sportsbook, all located on the first floor. The second floor will house two restaurants, Sports & Social Steel City and Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar.
Sports & Social Steel City has a 45-foot television screen for viewing sports along with several non-casino games such as a bowling alley, a golf simulator, ping pong and more.
Several invitation-only events are scheduled for the weeks leading up to the grand opening. Charity nights are scheduled Nov. 14-15, benefiting the Westmoreland County Food Bank and Sage’s Army. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled Nov. 17.
Casino officials have been gearing up for the opening, partnering with Westmoreland County Community College to create a dealer school and opening a recruitment center, both located in the former Sears wing of the mall. More than 500 people are expected to work at the facility.
