No one was injured when a small plane skidded on the runway Monday morning at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity, according to emergency officials.

“His gear collapsed as the plane was landing,” said airport executive director Gabe Monzo. “There were two people on board the plane, which was out of Allentown.”

The incident was reported shortly after 10 a.m., according to a Westmoreland County 911 supervisor.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

Monday’s emergency response marks the second incident at the airport in recent weeks.

Last month, a small plane left the airport headed for Shreveport, La., and and was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing after smoke began entering the cockpit 20 minutes into the flight.

Airport officials are looking to secure about $7 million they say is needed for a $21 million expansion project that would double the size of the terminal to provide additional boarding gates and tenants, as well as another security checkpoint.
