A South Greensburg woman was ordered to serve up to two years on probation for an assault of an elderly nursing home resident in 2022.

Donna Marie Flock, 57, on Wednesday pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of striking, shoving, kicking and making threats against a resident at Newhaven Court at Lindwood, a senior care facility in Hempfield. Police said Flock, who worked as a nurse’s aide, punched an 84-year-old resident in the abdomen on June 6, 2022.

Flock claimed she reacted to a “combative” resident while attempted to turn her in her bed.

A registered nurse at the facility told police she witnessed the incident.

The victim told police she did not remember the incident and was uninjured.

Flock told the judge she agreed to the plea deal to avoid further court proceedings.

Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Krieger sentenced Flock to serve the probation term and to complete anger management classes. Flock will be barred from working with patients during her probation, which could be terminated after the first year, the judge said.

Tim Cawoski, the victim’s son, told the judge he wanted Flock barred from ever working as a nurse’s aide.

“She should not be allowed to work in any short- and long-term health care facility ever again. My mother worked as a nurse her whole life and she would be appalled by what happened,” Cawoski said.
