Pennsylvania names veteran as new director of Linn Run State Park

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources named a new director of the Linn Run State Park Complex in Westmoreland County.

Corey J. Snyder, 40, previously worked as the manager of Tyler State Park in Bucks County.

He succeeds Doug Finger, who recently retired.

The complex includes the 612-acre Linn Run State Park in Cook Township, the 493-acre Laurel Mountain State Park in Ligonier Township and the 6-acre Laurel Summit State Park in Cook Township.

“I’ve waited a long time for the opportunity to return to southwestern Pennsylvania and work at the Linn Run complex,” Snyder said in a statement.

A Harrisburg native, Snyder started his his career as a park manager trainee in Bedford County.

He’s also worked at the Memorial Lake State Park Complex in Lebanon County.

Snyder is an Army veteran who was deployed in Iraq from 2008-2009.

He holds an associate degree in forest recreation from Paul Smith’s College, a bachelor’s degree in park and recreation management from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in geography from California University of Pennsylvania.
