A Derry Township woman was killed in a crash last month, state police said in a news release issued Tuesday.

Betty J. Stamm, 89, was driving a Honda Accord on Route 982 at 2:30 p.m. June 1 in Derry Township when troopers said the car went off the road, hit a guide rail and turned on its side.

Stamm was extricated from the car after it landed in a ditch near the intersection of Sandy Avenue. She was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

An obituary indicated she died June 7. An Allegheny County Medical Examiner report showed she died at UPMC Mercy from blunt force trauma to the trunk as a result of the crash.

Stamm worked as an executive assistant in the registrar’s office at Seton Hill University in Greensburg prior to retirement, according to her obituary. She is survived by a daughter, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
