Local motorcyclists will hit the roads Saturday for a fundraiser to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The fundraiser, sponsored by American Legion Riders Trafford Post 331, will benefit Amanda’s Heart Foundation, a nonprofit organization that was started by Wall resident Linda Ooten and her daughter, Amanda — a quadriplegic diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

In-person registration for the event will begin at 9 a.m. at the American Legion in Trafford, located at 216 Cavitt Avenue. The cost is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger. Participants must show proof of insurance and a signed waiver.

The ride will begin at 11 a.m., traveling to the Ligonier American Legion, Jim & Jimmie’s restaurant in Johnstown and the Latrobe American Legion before returning to Trafford.

There will also be a post-ride event at the Trafford American Legion featuring music, food and raffles. Doors open at 4 p.m. and tickets cost $10.

The Legion Riders first hosted the fundraiser in 2022, generating $6,000 for Amanda’s Heart Foundation. The funds were used to help individuals with disabilities access therapeutic and sensory equipment, as well as resources to promote independence.
