A freight train hit a disabled vehicle early Thursday evening on the railroad tracks in Derry Township, a Westmoreland County Public Safety supervisor said.

A woman, who was not identified, got out of the vehicle and was walking around when firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after the accident at 6:15 p.m. at the railroad crossing at Gray’s Station, the supervisor said.

Badenville firefighters provided traffic control, the supervisor said.

State police at Greensburg were investigating the incident.

Additional details were not immediately available Thursday evening.
