PennDOT is planning to incorporate a section of former trolley right-of-way in the Mt. Pleasant Township village of Norvelt into a proposed realignment of Route 981, as part of the Laurel Valley Transportation Improvement Project. Here, a trace of the old trolley bed can be seen to the west of 981 looking north toward Windy Hill Road.
