A Hempfield woman was arrested this week on aggravated assault and drunken driving charges after state police say she cut her boyfriend’s hand with a knife and punched him during a Jan. 31 argument when she crashed her SUV.

Jessica L. Fink, 39, is accused of driving erratically after departing the Larimer Fire Department in North Huntingdon. She was with her boyfriend, Larry J. Hoffman, 42, and she told police they were drinking until about 1 a.m. Troopers said she struck a brick pillar on her drive home to Hempfield, causing minor damage.

Trooper Kalin Gerhard reported a verbal altercation turned physical in the vehicle.

Once inside the residence, the pair continued arguing about the crash, where Fink grabbed a kitchen knife, locked herself in a bathroom and threatened to harm herself, according to court papers.

Gerhard said Hoffman reported that he forced his way into the bathroom and attempted to take the knife but “was slashed in his left hand” by Fink. Hoffman told police that he called state police after he was cut.

Fink was arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated assault, DUI, illegally operating a vehicle without a ignition interlock, reckless endangering and simple assault. She was released on $25,000 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing Feb. 25.

Hoffman, who required treatment at Excela Health Westmoreland hospital in Greensburg, was cited for physical harassment after the incident, according to court documents.

Neither Fink or Hoffman had attorneys listed in court documents.
