A Unity man was sentenced to state prison this week in connection with a large crystal methamphetamine bust at his home in April 2017.

George Kenneth Wurthman, 59, was ordered to report to the Westmoreland County Prison on July 22 to begin serving a sentence of four to 10 years.

Police confiscated about 2 1/2 pounds of the drug from Wurthman’s home on April 10, 2017, while serving a search warrant. Authorities said at the time it was believed to be one of the biggest busts of crystal methamphetamine in the region.

Wurthman pleaded guilty Monday to a possession with intent to deliver charge. He has been free on $150,000 bond since his arrest. He was given credit for time served.

During the search of his home, authorities seized two guns that had been reported stolen, the crystal meth, $1,400 in a safe, a digital scale and bagging material, according to court papers.
