WCCC to host Greensburg Diocese's men's conference
Editor’s note: Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Diocese of Greensburg announced that “The Well” has been rescheduled for May 9, 2020.
Six hundred Catholic men attended the Diocese of Greensburg’s 2019 men’s conference “The Well,” so local church leaders decided to hold another one.
The second annual gathering, whose full title is “The Well: Come and Be Renewed,” is scheduled for March 21 at Westmoreland County Community College, Youngwood. The registration deadline is March 11.
Organizers said the conference venue was changed from Greensburg Central Catholic to WCCC in order to accommodate more people.
“We hope to grow it. … We want to do better than last year — we think we can,” diocese spokesman Jerry Zufelt said.
The conference will feature keynote speaker Mike Clark, evening anchor at WTAE-TV, 30 workshops in three separate time blocks and a closing Mass celebrated by Greensburg Bishop Edward C. Malesic.
The 2020 conference is dedicated to the memory of Michael J. Walker, one of the lead organizers of last year’s inaugural event. He died in October.
The conference opens at 7:15 a.m. with a continental breakfast. The opening prayer will be at 8:30 a.m., followed by Clark’s talk at 8:45 a.m.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 9:45 a.m., and the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) will be available from 9:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The three hour-long workshop sessions will be held from 11:20 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The closing Mass will begin at 4 p.m.
Some of the workshop topics will be ”God and Science: Where Does the Evidence Lead?” “Viewing Women as God Does,” “The Search for True Meaning in American Culture,” “Spiritual Warfare: Demonic Influences in Our Lives,” “The Epidemic of Loneliness” and “Dad, Show Me That I Matter to You.”
Registration is $50 and includes breakfast, lunch and the workshops. Registration is open at www.dioceseofgreensburg.org/THEWELL.
