Doug Weimer announced his candidacy for the Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors.
Weimer, who has served on the board since 2001, pointed to what he described as a track record of producing a balanced budget with no property tax increases. He was part of a board majority that rejected a proposed increase for 2025.
In seeking re-election, Weimer said he has provided a voice in the township’s planning for the future, such as the creation of the Hempfield Department of Public Safety, plans for new fire stations, acquisition of the former SCI Greensburg property to prepare for demolition and construction of a new park and municipal complex.
“I have overseen record-breaking infrastructure improvements to township roads, bridges and stormwater systems,” Weimer said in an announcement. “I have directed the expansion of recreational opportunities and facilities without relying solely on tax dollars, and attracted private investments in the community.”
Weimer is a Republican.
