Westmoreland adds 9 new covid-19 cases, no deaths

Westmoreland County saw nine new cases of covid-19 added to its total on Thursday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

For the sixth straight day, the county did not see a covid-19 related death added to its total of 46 to date.

After averaging 25 new cases a day in July, the county has seen that average drop to 13 so far in August.

There are seven people currently hospitalized for covid-19 in Westmoreland County, according to the state’s covid-19 dashboard — one of them on a ventilator.

To date, the county has seen 32,210 individual residents tested, with 95.4% testing negative.

Of Thursday’s new cases, all were confirmed positives.

To date, there have been 1,484 Westmoreland County residents who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
