A hole is seen in the side of the Westmoreland City post office in North Huntingdon after a driver drove their SUV into it before the branch was open May 6.

The Westmoreland City Post Office reopened Wednesday morning, nine days after an SUV crashed into the building.

Postal customers were asked to use the office in Manor during the temporary closure. The SUV crashed into the Walnut Street building May 6. No one was hurt.

A postal service spokesman did not say if repairs to the wall had been completed. The building was temporarily condemned May 6 until it could be made structurally safe through repairs.

The crash left behind a gaping hole that exposed insulation and wood framing with bricks littering the floor.

Mail delivery in Westmoreland City continued as normal during the closure, but post office box customers had to pick up mail in Manor. The Westmoreland City Post Office’s hours are 9:15 a.m.-noon and 1-4:15 p.m. Monday-Friday. The location is open 8-11:45 a.m. on Saturdays.
