Westmoreland County reported two additional cases of covid-19 on Sunday, bringing the total number of people to test positive for the virus to 417, according to Pennsylvania health officials.
No new deaths from the virus were reported.
Westmoreland County is one of the counties that will shift to the yellow zone of Gov. Tom Wolf’s red/yellow/green reopening plan on May 15.
“As we prepare to move a number of counties from red to yellow, we need all Pennsylvanians to continue to follow the social distancing and mitigation efforts in place,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a Sunday statement. “We must continue to protect our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, which includes our seniors, those with underlying health issues, our health care workers and our first responders.”
State health officials continue to report less covid-19 related deaths than County Coroner Ken Bacha, who continued to report 32 covid-19 related deaths on Sunday afternoon. Bacha’s number hasn’t been updated since Thursday, according to the coroner’s website.
Of the 32 covid-19 related deaths reported by Bacha, 25 were confirmed by positive testing. Seven were presumed by symptoms and weren’t tested.
Those who died include 15 men and 17 women. The oldest was 109 and the youngest was 61, with the average age being 83. All were white.
The state continues to report 30 covid-19 related deaths. It has attributed 27 of the deaths, or 90%, to nursing and personal care homes. According to the state, 131 residents and 31 employees of nine such facilities have tested positive for the virus.
More than 5,800 people have tested negative.
Statewide, more than 56,600 people in all of the state’s 67 counties have tested positive for the virus, and more than 3,700 people have died. More than 227,700 people have tested negative.
