Westmoreland County adds 24 new coronavirus cases, 1 death

On Wednesday, Westmoreland County continued its streak of daily double-digit coronavirus cases for the month of July.

In their latest report, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 24 new cases, bringing the county’s total to 1,351. The state also reported one new death, as the county’s toll climbed to 45.

Of the 24 new cases, 23 are confirmed and one is probable.

There were 327 new results posted Wednesday, for a positivity rate of 7.34%. All told, the state has reported 29,455 results for an overall positivity rate of 4.59%.

With 705 cases posted in July, more than half of the county’s cases have come in this month alone. It was first reported in Westmoreland County on March 19.
