Westmoreland County adds 7 new coronavirus cases

Westmoreland County saw seven new cases of coronavirus added to its totals on Monday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
It marks the fifth time in August the new case count was in the single digits. The county has seen 218 new covid cases this month, and a total of 1,627 cases since the pandemic began in March.
Six of the county’s new cases were confirmed, with one probable.
No new deaths were added to Westmoreland County’s total count of 48.
In the first 40 days after its first covid-19 related death was announced, Westmoreland County had 38 residents die of the virus. In the 91 days since then, the county has added only 10 deaths.
To date, Westmoreland County has tested 35,561 individuals for covid-19, with a 4.58% positivity rate.
