Westmoreland County nears 25,000 covid cases with Tuesday’s additions

Westmoreland County had an additional 117 covid cases Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health.

The newly reported cases continue a recent trend in the county. In the past 14 days, Westmoreland County has seen seven days with newly reported cases below 100, and seven days with more than 100 cases.

Total cases in Westmoreland County are now 24,883.

There were four additional covid deaths reported Tuesday, bringing the death total in Westmoreland County to 610.

Single digit deaths have been reported every day in the county since Jan. 20, when 12 deaths were announced.

Covid hospitalizations were 141 on Tuesday, remaining at the same level as Monday’s amount. Hospitalizations had dropped slightly from Jan. 28 to Monday, going from 149 to 141. The most covid hospitalizations over the past two weeks in Westmoreland County was 153 on Jan. 20.
