Fundraisers
• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will host a Bingo Bonanza April 27 at the Civic Center, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. Doors open at 11 a.m., early birds will begin at 1 p.m., and regular bingo will start at 1:30 p.m. Cost: $25, includes three early bird games, 12 regular games, two specials, the jackpot game and lunch. Proceeds will benefit the Yough-Yinzers One Nation Softball Team and the Civic Association. Tickets: Jessica, 724-875-3614.
• A takeout stuffed chicken breast dinner fundraiser to benefit West Newton First Church of God will be from 4 to 6 p.m. April 26 at Gary’s Chuckwagon, 109 S. Second St. Menu: stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and dessert, $20. Tickets: 724-872-7427 or 724-872-7467. Proceeds will be used for the mission trip to Gamerco, N.M.
• A fashion show, “The Art of Fashion,” to benefit the Latrobe Art Center will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3 at Cavallo Fields, 5021 Pleasant Unity Road, Unity. Admission: $90; art center members, $75; and includes lunch. There will be a basket raffle, 50-50 and a cash bar featuring themed cocktails. Reservations required by April 26. History
• The Westmoreland Historical Society will sponsor a genealogy workshop at 1 p.m. April 26 at the society history education center, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. There will be a demonstration of how to use the new online deed search on the Westmoreland County Recorder of Deeds website. Reservations required. Cost: $12; society members, $10. Meetings
• Mon Valley Paws will meet at 6 p.m. April 22 at the Italian Club, 112 Seventh St., Monessen. New members welcome. The group helps individuals and nonprofit organizations that specialize in animal health care and rescues. Details: 724-493-8305.
• Golden Dome Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. April 24 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Greensburg. The program will be about knitting fingerless gloves. Senior Citizen News
• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have bingo at 12:15 p.m. April 22. A penny auction will be at 1 p.m. April 23. Reservations limited to 25 people. • West Overton Village will host an Earth Day garden talk at 6:30 p.m. April 22 in the second-floor classroom at the Distillery Museum, 109 West Overton Road, East Huntingdon. Becky Griffith from Shadowwood Gardens will discuss what to plant and when. No elevator is available and those attending must use the stairs. Cost: $10; museum members, $5. Reservations required. • A free Preschool Expo will be from 4 to 6 p.m. April 28 in the Fred Rogers room at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, 102 Equity Drive, Hempfield.
