Art

• The Westmoreland Museum of American Art will sponsor a Sunday Fun Day celebration, “Women In the Arts,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 at the museum, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. There will be a showcase of woman-owned businesses, activities and entertainment. Reservations required: thewestmoreland.org/events.

Church News

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren hosts a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St., Southwest Greensburg. Dinner is included. Participants must be accompanied by a family member or caregiver. Donations will be accepted. Details: 724-834-2130 or gbgcob.org.

• Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, will have Lenten worship services at 12:05 Thursdays March 6 through April 17 at the church, 140 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Lunch cost: $4. No reservations required. Details: 724-834-9060.

Fish Fries

• St. Raymond of the Mountains Parish, 170 School House Lane, Donegal Township, will have Lenten fish fries from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays March 7 through April 11 in the church hall. Menu: dinners, fried cod fish sandwich, baked cod or fried shrimp, $15, include two sides. Drinks and dessert included with all dinners. There will be a basket raffle and 50-50. • Mt. Pleasant Veterans of Foreign Wars, 416 W. Main St., will host a fish fry from noon to 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday and Fridays through Lent. Menu: baked or fried fish dinner, includes fries and coleslaw, $14; 8-piece shrimp dinner, $12; chicken strip basket with fries, $8; fried fish sandwich, $11. Fundraisers

• An all-you-can-eat Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 4 at Congruity Presbyterian Church, 136 Fenneltown Road, New Alexandria. Menu: pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit cup, coffee, tea and juice. There will be a basket raffle. Cost: $9; 6 to 12, $4; younger than 6, free. Proceeds will benefit the church Redstone Mission Team trip to West Virginia in April. Details: 724-668-7740.

• Delmont Historical Preservation Society will sponsor a barn quilt painting class for beginners from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 29 at Delmont Public Library, 75 School St. Cost: $35, due the day of the class, includes materials, refreshments and instructions to complete and take home a 12 x 12-inch wooden barn quilt. • A takeout spaghetti dinner to benefit West Newton Women’s Club will be from 4 to 6 p.m. March 8 at Gary’s Chuckwagon, 109 S. Second St., West Newton. Cost: $15, includes spaghetti, meatball, salad, dessert and drinks. Tickets: 724-322-6973 and at the restaurant.

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. March 6 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Payout is 50-50. Free coffee. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies.

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township.

Meetings

• Mt. Pleasant American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. March 4 at the post, 752 W. Main St. Dinner can be ordered from the kitchen.

• The Botanical Society of Westmoreland County will have a business meeting at 6 p.m. March 5 at the Westmoreland Conservation District Barn, 218 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Guest speaker Loree Speedy will discuss twigs and tree architecture. Light refreshments will be served afterward. Annual dues of $15 per household or $10 per person will be collected. Student dues are waived with proof of enrollment in a high school or university.

Music

• Delmont Community Band will begin weekly rehearsals for the summer concert season from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 6 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 E. Pittsburgh St. Anyone who plays a band instrument is welcome. Details: Chuck Amadee, text 724-331-6420 or email c.amadee@comcast.net.

Senior Citizen News

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have spring tip bingo at 12:15 p.m. March 4. National Cheese Doodle Day will be celebrated at 1 p.m. March 5 with a cheese puff snack recipe demonstration. Coffee hour is at 8 a.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Lunch reservations required one day in advance. Donations are accepted for all activities. Details: 724-787-1760.

• Super Seniors of Westmoreland County will meet at noon March 4 at Community United Methodist Church, 3487 Route 130, Trafford. Mikey Dee will entertain. Lunch cost: $2. Annual dues will be collected. New members welcome. Reservations: Theresa Barry, 724-744-3565.
