Church news

• Living Word Congregational Church, 2003 Ridge Road, Penn Township, will have a Second Mile prayer and communion service at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday at the church.

Meetings

• Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. July 15 at the club, 539 Cedar Creek Road, Rostraver. Membership applications from men and women welcome. Details: 724-984-6611 or rostraversca.org .

Senior citizen news

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have Pretty Me bingo at 12:15 p.m. July 16. The center will close at 11 a.m. July 17 for a blood drive. National Hot Dog Day will be observed at 11 a.m. with a hot dog bar and toppings at 11 a.m. July 18. Reservations required. Details: 724-787-1760.

• North Huntingdon AARP is offering a one-day trip Aug. 21 to Columbiana, Ohio, to see “Aloha Hawaii,” a show featuring Polynesian entertainers and dancers. A buffet lunch is included; cost is $189. Bus departs from St. Elizabeth Seton Church in North Huntingdon. Payment due by July 21. For reservations call Janet Tatters, 724-863-6012.

Special event

• Cook Township Community Center will host a free outdoor movie night at dusk July 19 at the center, 1714 Route 711. The featured film will be “The Greatest Showman,” rated PG. Bring a blanket or chair. The event will be inside in the event of inclement weather. There will be a concession stand.

Veterans news

• A veterans service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 17 in the office of state Rep. Jill Cooper, 105 Pfeffer Road, suite 5, Washington Township. Services available will include disability and pension claims, benefit questions, assisting spouses with survivor benefits and applications for veterans grants. Appointments will be accepted, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 724-387-9113.
