Fundraisers
• Community Revitalization of West Newton will host a Red, White and Blue 5K Color Run at 9 a.m. June 7 at Vine Street Park, 110 S. Fifth St. Details: crown15089@yahoo.com.
• A ladies afternoon tea will be held 1 p.m. May 24 at the Hall at Robbins Station, 129 Robbins Station Road, Irwin. Doors will open at noon for shopping with vendors and photographs. The Rev. June Jeffries from New Light Baptist Church will be the speaker. Cost: $30. Special pricing is available for girls 12 and younger. • Jeannette Knights of Columbus hosts bingo at 7 p.m. Friday in Mersinger Hall at Ascension Church, 615 Division St., Jeannette. Doors open at 6 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Players younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Smoke-free venue. Food will be available and there will be a 50-50 and instant bingos. Memorial Day event
• Derry Area Historical Society and the students of Derry Area School District will present a free Memorial Day program 1 to 3 p.m. May 18 at the school district amphitheater on Recreation Road. Rain or shine. The program will include true stories of local heroes and light refreshments will be served. Public welcome.
Nature
• Westmoreland Woodlands Improvement Association will host a talk about carnivorous plants and invertebrates 7 p.m. May 22 at the J. Roy Houston Conservation Center, 218 Donohoe Road, Greensburg. A social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. AAron Capouellez, founder and president of Pennsylvania Woods and Forests, will be the speaker. Cost: $5; free for association members and students with current student ID. Reservations required by May 20. Reservations: Tammy, 724-837-5271.
