Westmoreland County officials Saturday put out an urgent call for poll workers for the June 2 primary.

Officials said they need to fill positions in Derry Township, Irwin Borough, North Huntingdon Township, Penn Township, Salem Township, Sewickley Township and Sutersville Borough.

Poll workers are trained in advance and paid between $95 and $130 for the day.

Those interested in applying for the posts may call 724-830-3564 or apply on-line.

The call for poll workers came amid uncertainty about how many of the county’s 300 voting precincts will be staffed as officials try to comply with stay-at-home orders. Officials previously said Westmoreland County polling places would be able to operate as usual if Gov. Tom Wolf included the county among the list of counties scheduled to go into phase two yellow status on May 8.

Wolf, however, did not include Westmoreland County among those scheduled to begin reopening May 8.
