A North Huntingdon developer wants to build a two-story four-unit townhouse in Irwin.

Painter Development Co. LLC is seeking a special exception to Irwin’s zoning ordinance to build the multi-unit residential building at the corner of Chestnut Street and Eighth Avenue. The borough’s zoning hearing board has scheduled a hearing at 6 p.m. Monday at council chambers at 1 First St., to consider the request to construct the townhouse in area zoned for single-family homes.

Painter Development had purchased the property at 503 8th St., in July 2023, from Morgan and Amanda Cotrill for $17,500, according to a filing in the Westmoreland County Recorder of Deeds. The company also bought the abutting property at 711 Chestnut St., from Irwin Borough for $5,200 in July 2023 through a public bidding process Irwin Council conducted.

Adam Painter, a managing partner in Painter Development, said they hope to build the townhouse this year.
