A woman was hurt in a stabbing near a gas station in Edgewood early Sunday and a man she was with fired a shot at the suspect, according to Allegheny County Police.

Authorities were called to South Braddock Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. and found the woman with a shoulder wound. She was hospitalized and is expected to survive, police said.

Investigators received information that a man who was with the woman fired a shot at the stabbing suspect near the GetGo station, just off the Parkway East interchange, according to police. It was unclear if the suspect was hurt. Police said they would confer with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges were appropriate.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
