Woman shot in Homewood South

A woman was shot Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s Homewood South neighborhood, police said.

Police were alerted to the incident by the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system just before 1 p.m. in the 7300 block of Formosa Way.

Officers on patrol in the area heard the shots and found the woman in the 7300 block of Hamilton Avenue shot in the leg.

Medics took her to the hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses told police a group of two or three people ran from the scene. Detectives are investigating.
