An incumbent member of Bethel Park Council lost his seat in Ward 1, according to unofficial Allegheny County primary election results.

Diane Ford’s May 20 vote total for the Democratic nomination bested that of current office holder Joseph A. Consolmagno, 296 to 145. No Republican candidate ran in the primary to represent Ward 1.

In Ward 5, Democratic incumbent Joe Janosik held off challenger Lori Walsh by a 259-191 count. Janosik will face Republican Ray Moore, who gained 250 primary votes without party opposition, in the general election.

The primary race for Bethel Park School Board featured incumbent Christina Headley winning nominations for both parties’ ballots in November, finishing first among Republican candidates with 2,353 votes and fourth among Democrats with 1,478.

Six other board candidates cross-filed for the primary, with incumbents Sharon Janosik (2,943 votes) and Buffie Faes (2,396) earning Democratic nominations for the general election, as well as Colleen Sokira (2,691).

Other Republicans earning nominations for their party are Eric Garland (2,307 votes), Karleen Bileck (2,261) and Thomas Provins Jr. (2,220).

Other Bethel Park municipal races involved unopposed candidates for each party. Lining up for the general election are:

• Mayor – incumbent Jack Allen, Republican (2,741 votes) and Democrat Jon Lloyd (3,257);

• Council, Ward 7 – Democrat Jillian Kautzman (411 votes) and Republican Kevin Sheahen (346);

• Council, Ward 9 – Democrat Ramona Stanley (337 votes) and Republican Denise A. Galloni (261).

John Oakes, council president, ran unopposed as a Republican in Ward 3, garnering 387 votes. No Democrat was on the ballot.
