#1 Cochran has acquired Butler County Ford, one of nation’s oldest Ford dealerships. The acquisition, announced March 23, brings #1 Cochran its second Ford franchise and further solidifies its status as Western Pennsylvania’s largest automotive retailer, now with 29 franchises representing 18 different brands.

Butler County Ford has been a mainstay on South Main Street in Butler for more than 100 years. Third-generation owner Cathy Glasgow said the time was right for the business to change hands.

“After much consideration, I felt it was time to pass the torch,” Glasgow said. “#1 Cochran is a tremendous organization that like us, is family owned and operated, and truly cares about their customers. This is going to be very good for local Ford buyers.”

The newly acquired store will be rebranded as #1 Cochran Ford.

“We are thrilled that this historic dealership will remain a local, family-owned business,” said Rob Cochran, president and CEO of #1 Cochran. “After so many other auto retailers sold their businesses to out-of-state-buyers, we look forward to building upon this store’s family legacy while incorporating our own values and programs, including our transparent and hassle-free Clearly Better Car Buying experience.”

Cochran also announced the company’s intent to construct a nearby, state-of-the-art showroom and service center within two years.

“As Ford continues to ramp up its EV and traditional engine businesses, we plan to give customers a best-in-class buying and ownership experience from an all-new, leading-edge facility,” he said.

The Butler Ford acquisition marks #1 Cochran’s fourth store in Butler County, joining its Subaru, Chevrolet and Nissan franchises. In addition to the company’s numerous brick-and-mortar locations, #1 Cochran is also an industry leader in online vehicle sales. Through the #1 Cochran ExpressWay platform, shoppers can complete some, most or all of the buying steps online, enabling them to spend less time or no time in the store.
