Those looking to enjoy Pennsylvania’s state parks will no longer have to choose between comfort and roughing it.
The commonwealth next year will offer glamping — glamorous camping — at eight state parks.
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will offer “glampsites” at Poe Valley, Hills Creek, Laurel Hill, Pymatuning, Codorus, French Creek, Hickory Run and Promised Land state parks.
Each park will have a handicap accessible campsite and a mix of two layouts. One will offer two queen beds and would sleep up to four guests, while the second would sleep up to six people on a king bed and two bunk beds.
The setups will be fitted with a Keurig coffee maker, a mini fridge, rugs, lamps, a diffuser, electrical outlets, ceiling fans, air conditioning and heating, according to DCNR.
Outside of the souped-up tents, glampers will find hammocks, wood fire rings, charcoal grills, camp chairs, picnic tables and string lights.
Add-on options include gourmet s’mores kits, “little glamper” activity boxes, Giant Jenga, cornhole and firewood bundles.
DCNR is partnering with Timberline Glamping Co. for the glitzy camping experience. Timberline Glamping offers similarly posh camping options in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Virginia.
People can make reservations for next year online.
Rates for a 320-square-foot Deluxe Safari Tent at Laurel Hill or Pymatuning state parks in April are $189 per night.
There are a total of 61 sites available throughout the eight participating parks.
