Pennsylvania reported 112 more deaths attributed to covid-19 as of early Saturday, bringing the statewide death toll to nearly 5,100, state health data show.

The state added 725 new cases of the coronavirus disease, for a total of nearly 67,000 people infected in all 67 counties since the first confirmed case in early March.

About two-thirds of the deaths — 3,349 people — have involved residents of nursing homes or long-term care facilities.

More than 5,000 of the positive cases have involved health care workers.

“We must continue to protect our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, which includes our seniors, those with underlying health issues, our healthcare workers and our first responders,” Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said in a statement.

Between Thursday and Friday, the state reported 115 new deaths and 866 new cases.

Most of the deaths have been people older than 65, and the youngest to die of covid-19 was 18 years old.

Department of Health officials said in a statement that 513 of the 66,983 positive cases were probable cases — meaning the individual either had symptoms and close contact with a confirmed positive case, or tested positive via a blood test for antibodies associated with covid-19.

More than 320,000 patients have tested negative for the illness.

Gov. Tom Wolf on Friday announced the first counties that will move to the green phase of the state’s reopening:

Bradford, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Montour, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, Venango and Warren.

Eight others will move to the yellow phase: Dauphin, Franklin, Huntingdon, Lebanon, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike and Schuylkill.

The state has updated an interactive map that allows users to search for cases by county and ZIP code.
